China is developing at break-neck speed, so it’s no surprise that its machine-to-machine (M2M) communications market is undergoing rapid growth as well.
According to the GSMA, China is the global leader in use of mobile M2M connectivity, with 50 million mobile M2M connections, ahead of the U.S. with 32 million and Japan with 9.3 million as of the end of 2013, according to the study. Driving much of this demand are the energy and transportation industries, while M2M solutions are also gaining traction in the automotive, smart city, healthcare, education and retail sectors.
Behind this growth is cooperation between mobile operators in China and in their service offerings.
“China's mobile operators are developing sophisticated M2M propositions that can go beyond the provision of basic connectivity. In many cases, they are providing end to end solutions, supported by systems integration and dedicated charging policies," said Anne Bouverot Director General and Member of the Board of the GSMA.
Without the proper tools, China’s approach can seem daunting and out of reach. However, Aeris GSP empowers operators to easily integrate partner applications, create separate and easily administered M2M rate plans without needing expensive vendor or IT involvement.
Aeris GSP also offers a robust set of APIs for easy integration with enterprise M2M applications. And Aeris’s application enablement platform, AerCloud, affords operators service revenues beyond current connectivity, data usage, and connectivity management while reducing the cost and complexity of application development.
