“Sweet Home Chicago” is a blues song first recorded in 1936 by Robert Johnson, and later in 1980 by the Blues Brothers for a movie by the same name.

The lyrics have such relevance for me and my Aeris colleagues because as of Dec. 6, 2016 we are in our “Sweet Home” in Chicago. We officially cut the ribbon and hosted a grand opening of Aeris’ new office located at 435 N. LaSalle Street in the River North section of downtown Chicago.

It truly was a “grand” occasion with nearly 100 people attending including City of Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, and Vice Mayor, Brendan Reilly, alderman of the 42nd ward.

We made a strategic decision earlier this year to expand our growing operations, and after careful assessment of several cities, we chose Chicago.

It’s simple. The great talent and diversity offered in the city of Chicago were second to none. The skills offered by such a dynamic workforce in Chicago allows us to establish a presence in all areas of our operations spanning across engineering, product management, sales, marketing, customer service and support, finance and talent acquisition.

We are excited to bring Silicon Valley and an important, growing technology (the Internet of Things) to Chicago. Furthermore, we are delighted to collaborate with the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago to help bring jobs to the local community of Chicago and the River North area including the 42nd Ward.

Our commitment to diversity is such that we bring people from all walks to help exceed our business strategy as a leader in the Internet of Things industry.

None of this would have happened if it was not for the support of many including our partners with the State of Illinois, City of Chicago and local ward, and our customers, vendors and suppliers.

We thank Vic Narusis and members of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Development for their time and continued support under the leadership of Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner.

Thanks to the City of Chicago for their partnership. Thank you, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and members of your Office for their unwavering support. We appreciate the willingness by so many from the city to welcome Aeris to Chicago.

We thank the 42nd Ward for their continued partnership. Thank you, Alderman Brendan Reilly, and members of your staff for a warm and hospitable welcome to your ward.  We look forward to being a contributing and caring partner of the 42nd ward.  We intend to make our beautiful office space available to qualified organizations seeking a place to advance their organization’s mission and cause.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our customers and many suppliers and vendors who played such a key and important role in making 435 N. LaSalle Street our “Sweet Home” in Chicago.

Silicon Valley is putting a foothold here in City of Chicago and the State of Illinois.  Aeris is delighted to help make that happen here. The collaboration between Aeris with the State of Illinois, City of Chicago and42nd Ward will help all of us prosper in the years ahead.

Aeris is a great company to work for. I encourage you to visit our Careers page today and learn more about us and see what opportunity there may be to join our team.
